young up start and london based enfant terrible l vis 1990 engineers bass fuelled dance music designed to make your ears bleed! a pioneer of his own hyper bass sound, that sonically fuses aspects of dance music that have inspired him over the last 6 years ?garage, electro, b more, ghetto tech and drum & bass, his sound is unmistakable. the majority of the l vis 1990 ep was made on his laptop, on the 8am train commute from brighton to london, and finished off at the stereo mcss studio in brixton. further musical affiliates are sinden, herve, duke dumont, switch et al, as well as math head aka passions ny, philadelphias starkey, and early dubstep pioneer vex d (planet mu), the latter of whom spoke of l vis? change the game as a track that really struck a chord, totally made me think about new ways of doing shit...

zero cash is back, served in slices! dont say what you think comes at you with two different versions, both hot out the over. the main mix is straight ahead, bangin and dark for the peak hours and tends to make you very nervous. the alternate mix takes you down the dial to minimal/sci fi soundtrack land slathered over an intentionally thicker crust. both mixes are hot and heavy and not for the feint of heart. then in classic zero cash style he lightens stuff up for the b side with more than enough taking you on an electro journey remniscent of 80s cop shows and shoot em up video games. served in slices, get em while they re hot!!!

likely ep is tims first release on tiefschwarzs souvenir label. lead track alike sounds like ivan smagghe jamming with richie hawtin in a warehouse rave in london, skirting a line between futuristic tech house and discerning electro. a live bassline holds down the groove as a trickling bleepy melody develops throughout the track. as more and more layers of elaborate sonic trickery are laid down, a driving snare jacks out the groove further before a series of effects laden breakdowns tighten the tension further and further. cowbells take the second phase of the track ever taughter before the groove emerges into a stabbing hook and pulsating synth noises that drive the dancefloor into blissed out oblivion. subtle vocals tease the ears in the background of the final strung out breakdown, never quite dominating the tune before the jacking bass and kick drop back in. ‘unlike shares a similar vibe for mixing live instruments with plug in madness. live sounding bassline and guitar lines open the track and roll out the groove before the main synth hook takes over. as the track rolls in and out of its breakdowns it lurches between reverb heavy, bleepy chaos and futuristic rhythms. think depeche mode writing an experimental instrumental on the moon in 2012 and youre halfway there. like many french artists these days tim lives and works in london and also collaborates with fellow frenchies ivan smagghe and dante eprom. he first caught the attention of vinyl sleuths with his excellent remix of db (8)s future now in 2004 and now runs his own label marketing music as well as pushing the boundaries of spacey electro flavoured tech house with his own solo material.
